At the end of 2018 we opened our CITB Training Centre, which provides training to local businesses and construction workers to create and maintain a skilled workforce. The centre enables workers to refresh their training and to stay compliant with health and safety regulations.
What is CITB?
CITB stands for Construction Industry Training Board, it is a scheme which encourages training to allow workers to gain the necessary qualifications within the construction sector. When attending our CITB centre, workers will have the skills of their workforce assessed so that potential employers can check and confirm that the desired skills and competence are available for the job.
Our centre also provides a Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test, this is important for workers to ensure that themselves and their colleagues are safe on site.
Helping the Workforce Supply Chain
Our aim for the CITB training centre is to support the workforce supply chain by making it easier for them to keep up to date with the latest health and safety regulations.
Skill Shortage Issues
There is an array of factors which threaten the skill shortage in the construction industry that we are currently facing. The CITB revealed that there has been a decline in the number of young people entering the construction industry. Our ambition for our training centres is to have a positive impact by giving existing workers and apprentices the skills they need. We want to encourage young people to choose a career in construction, and we are hopeful that our CITB Training will make the construction industry more appealing, thus inspiring young workers and apprentices to further their career opportunities within the trade and encourage young people to choose a career in construction.
